Kick chat overlay in OBS
Put your Kick chat on stream as a clean chat box in OBS: pick a theme, hide bots and commands, and add it with one Browser source.
Updated 18 October 2026
The Chat box widget shows your Kick chat on your stream, with emotes and badges, on a transparent background. Messages arrive through Kick’s official chat events, pass through Guardian first, and are drawn as plain text, so nobody can slip code into your OBS.
1. Turn on the Chat box
Open the Chat overlay feature page (Widgets → Chat overlay) and switch it on. Press the test button to see sample messages (short, long, Arabic) in the preview.
2. Pick a look
- 1Theme: classic (text only), glass, bubbles, outline, neon, medina, compact or bar.
- 2Size: small, medium, large or huge, and newest at the bottom or the top.
- 3Up to 30 lines (10 by default). Messages fade after 30 seconds, or never.
- 4Badges for mods, VIPs and subs, emotes, name colours and a time stamp are each one switch.
3. Keep it clean
By default the box hides chat commands, links and other bots (Botrix and WinkomBot are on the list). Add any name you want ignored. When a mod bans or times someone out, their lines vanish from the box at once, and the box starts empty at each new stream.
4. Add it to OBS
- 1Easiest: tick the Chat box in your overlay (Widgets › Overlays → Edit). The link already in OBS shows it.
- 2Or copy the Chat box’s own link and add a Browser source just for it, so you can place it per scene.
- 3In OBS: Sources → + → Browser, paste the link, use the size shown next to Copy link, then OK.
Move and resize it
Drag the source in OBS to where you want the chat and resize it with the red handles. On a full-cam stream, keep it on a side so it never covers your face.
Questions
Does the chat overlay show Arabic and emoji?
Yes. Names and messages keep their own writing direction, and Kick emotes show as pictures.
Can viewers put links or code on my stream?
No. Links are hidden by default, and every message is shown as text only, never as HTML.
Is it the same link as my alerts?
It can be. One overlay link can hold alerts, the chat box and more. Or give the chat its own link.
